Who is your ideal visitor?

By Beatriz Roldan Martinez

Not everyone who travels to the Colca Valley is looking for the same thing. That’s why it’s important for each tourism business to ask: Who do I really want to attract?

This week, we invite you to reflect on your ideal visitor, the person who truly values what you offer, who connects with your story, your culture, and your way of life.

👉 But imagining your ideal visitor isn’t just about dreaming, it’s also about understanding who is already traveling in Peru and how you can connect with them more strategically.

According to PROMPERÚ’s recent studies (2023–2024), two groups show strong potential for regenerative tourism in regions like Colca:

🔸 Domestic travelers: Young Peruvians traveling with family or partners, interested in nature, gastronomy, and culture.

🔸 International sustainable travelers: Visitors who seek authentic, responsible, and meaningful experiences.

🧭 To help you reflect, here are some key questions:

  • What age is your ideal visitor? Where are they from?
  • Do they travel solo, as a couple, or in a group?
  • What are they looking for in their trip? What inspires them?
  • What values do they hold?
  • How do they get their travel information? What kinds of experiences do they prefer?
  • Could they fit one of the sustainable traveler profiles identified by PROMPERÚ? (Eco-Friendly, Socially Responsible, Specialized)

💡 If you’d like to learn more about these traveler profiles and how to identify your ideal visitor using this information, check the link in the comments or request the printable guides we’ve prepared to walk you through the process.

📝 And you, can you describe your ideal visitor?

Write it down in a notebook or share it in the comments!
